2 Broke Girls - Pilot

Air Date: December 2011, E4

A brand new, and hilarious sitcom ready to fill the huge hole Friends has left in E4's schedule.

Max (Dennings) is a young, care free waitress at a small New York diner. Most of her time is spent putting people down, running away from her debts and slagging off the rich and famous. Then, one day, a young heiress named Caroline (Behrs) arrives on scene. She is you typical socialite who expects everything to fall in her lap, and relies on her girlfriends. Unfortunately she has recently lost all of her money, so has to take a job at the diner. So these two polar opposites are thrown together, and end up moving in with each other.

They work with their boss Han (Moy), a bit of a loser who wants to be cool, Oleg (Kite) the perverse chef who objectifies women including Max and Caroline, and finally Earl (Morris) the smooth cashier who always drops a one liner at the right moment. The girls soon form a friendship and decide to open their own cupcake business, and to escape the madness that is the diner. They do their best to save as much money as possible, and Max also has a second job to help them both out. She is a babysitter for another heiress named Peach (Lyons), and she looks after her babies Brad and Angelina, in fact she is basically bringing them up for her, which is one reason she despises famous people.

All of the performances are hilarious, especially Dennings and Moy. They play both characters brilliantly and are constantly making me laugh. The writing by King and Cummings is superb, but then that is to be expected by the writer or 'Sex and the City' and one of the best up and coming stand ups in the US. It is full of one liners, cutting remarks and enough jokes at the expense of celebrities to keep you laughing throughout. It will air in the UK in December on E4, and it is certainly worth a watch. With this and 'New Girl' coming to E4, we are certainly in for a treat.
