Another hit for Pixar, and although it isn't my favourite film of theirs, it most definitely isn't a bad film.

Right so, Lightning McQueen (Wilson) is back and with a whole host of new adventures to get into. When ex oil tycoon and now green power advocate Miles Axlerod (Izzard) announces the World Grand Prix to promote his Allinol Bio-fuel, McQueen signs up, with the help of Mater (Larry), straight away. Little does he know that nothing is quite as it seems, and it is all just an evil plan to secure the oil prices for himself. Trying to foil this plan are two British spies, Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell (Caine & Mortimer), who use both McQueen and Mater to help the along the way.

It has an impressive voice cast who each bring their character to life, and help to make the film exciting, vibrant and most importantly fun for children. I watched it with my 3 year old niece, and despite it being more mature than number 1, she still loved it and was glued throughout. It was nice that Wilson and Larry returned, and also with the return of Sally and Luigi (Hunt & Shalhoub) it makes it more familiar for children and nicer for them to watch. The rest of the cast rounded it off nicely with the additions of Francesco Bernoulli, Siddeley, Professor Zundapp and Madam Topolino (Turturro, Isaacs, Kretschmann & Redgrave) to add some extra life and some fresh and funny characters to the mix.

All in all it is a good film, which is more exciting and enjoyable than the first, and is packed full with plenty of gags and racing jokes for adult viewers. The directing is brilliant, and like each Pixar film, it has been made better than the last. The voice cast are warm and funny, and are absolutely perfect for a children's film. It is out on DVD in November and I definitely think you should pick it up when it is released, especially if you have children, whether they are fans of the first or not.
