RIP - Davy Jones

Sad news today, member of the pop group The Monkees and actor Davy Jones has passed away.

Born in England, the lead singer of the '60s pop group suffered a fatal heart attack this morning, reports TMZ.

His passing was later confirmed by an official from the medical examiner's office in Florida.

Apparently, he had complained of chest pains the previous evening at his home in Indiantown, Florida.

Jones leaves behind his loving family, wife Jessica and four daughters from two previous marriages.

Jones joined The Monkees in 1965, and the star soon rose to fame with hits like 'Last Train to Clarksville', 'Daydream Believer', 'I Wanna Be Free' and 'I'm a Believer'. After the group initially split in 1970, Jones went it alone and took part in a solo tour.

Also an actor, Jones appeared in the British soap opera Coronation Street and Z Cars as a teenager. Aswell as this he also tried acting in Hollywood, appearing in children's TV shows like Spongebob Squarepants and The Brady Bunch. But of course more famously was the whole band's TV show, also named The Monkees.

Such sad news, RIP Davy Jones. Gone too soon.
