Anna Kendrick's new musical film The Last Five Years has a trailer (and it has done for over a month, oops).
The Last Five years sees Anna Kendrick in her fifth movie musical role, if you include the upcoming Pitch Perfect 2, and with each one she blows me away even more. She is essentially becoming that girl at school that got a main role in the annual musical, and I love her for it.
The film, based on the award winning musical of the same name, follows Cathy (Kendrick) and Jamie (Jeremy Jordan) and there relationship over five years. However both characters have their own timeline; all of Cathy's songs follow the relationship from the end to the beginning, while Jamie's are from beginning to end. I have to say, I am intrigued at how this will be pulled off successfully on film.
With a supporting cast including Natalie Knepp, Betsy Wolfe, Kurt Deutsch, Jason Robert Brown and the original Broadway star, Sheri Rene Scott, who originated the role of Cathy.
The film is still yet to be given a UK release date, but the US get it on February 13, 2015.
