RIP - Victoria Wood

After a "short but brave" battle with cancer, Victoria Wood has passed away, aged 62.

In a statement made by her publicist Neil Reading, he said:
The multi BAFTA award-winning writer, director, actor and comedian died peacefully at her north London home with family this morning, the family ask for privacy at this sad time."
Whilst still a student at Birmingham University, Wood got her first break on TV talent show, New Faces. Since then she has gone on to write and star in sitcoms Acorn Antiques and Dinnerladies, with longtime friend and collaborator, Julie Walters.

In her full career, Wood won 5 BAFTAs, two of which she won for her one-off ITV drama, Housewife 49.
