This is the third re-imagining of the web slinging superhero in under 20 years, something that some people feel is a strange and confusing decision. The reason for the latest incarnation though is down to Disney and Marvel creating this story, and having this Spidey appear in countless other films, like the Avengers series.
They have promised that this wont be an origins story, as that has been covered twice already. Instead it will follow Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he returns home from his experience with The Avengers in Captain America: Civil War. Excited and amazed by his time there, and under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine. However when The Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
The film will also star as Marisa Tomei (as the youngest Aunt May yet), Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jon Favreau and Hannibal Buress.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is set for release on July 7, 2017 in the UK and US.
